Miaoli Hakka Village Ceramic Entrepreneurship and Technical Training Program - Cultural Heritage and Brand Development: Ceramic Source Hakka Village, Youth Craft Laboratory - 2026 Miaoli Ceramic Art Festival Phase 2 Ceramic Talent Training Workshop

To promote Miaoli ceramic culture and cultivate a new generation of ceramic talent, the Miaoli County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau has secured subsidies from the Hakka Affairs Council to implement the "Miaoli Hakka Village Ceramic Entrepreneurship and Technical Training Program - Cultural Heritage and Brand Development," launching the "Ceramic Source Hakka Village, Youth Craft Laboratory - 2026 Miaoli Ceramic Art Festival" Phase 2 Ceramic Talent Training Workshop. Registration is now open until 5:00 PM on July 7, 2026 (Republic of China year 115). Students, ceramic creators, and craft enthusiasts from across the nation are welcome to actively register.
Miaoli County has a history of over a hundred years of pottery making and is a major center for ceramic development in Taiwan. To continue promoting the heritage and innovative development of Miaoli ceramic culture, this course takes "Ceramic Source Hakka Village, Youth Craft Laboratory" as its main theme, integrating Hakka cultural characteristics with the development context of Miaoli ceramics. It plans a ceramic training curriculum that combines cultural and practical elements, aiming to cultivate young ceramic creative talent and deepen understanding and identification with local culture through guidance from professional instructors.
This session will be held from August 1 to September 5, 2026 (Republic of China year 115) at the Miaoli Ceramics Museum Ceramic Workshop, enrolling 20 students. Course content covers professional topics such as hand-coiling, colored slip application, hand-pinched texture creation, soft mold forming, and wood-fired kiln firing. Instructors include Lai Yi-ting (賴羿廷), Chen Chia-feng (陳加峯), Yang Chia-chia (楊家佳), Lo Hung-yu (羅弘煜), and Hsu Tzu-chu (徐自助), all experienced ceramic creators and teachers. Through demonstration teaching and hands-on practice, students will be guided to deeply learn ceramic creation techniques, kiln firing knowledge, and forms of artistic expression, accumulating practical creative experience.
The Ceramic Talent Training Workshop has been held since 2016, now entering its 11th year. It has long cultivated outstanding creative talent for the Miaoli Ceramic Art Festival and has become an important platform for ceramic talent development in Miaoli. This year, in addition to continuing professional training courses, the course outcomes will be integrated with the "2026 Miaoli Ceramic Art Festival" ceramic competition. Students who complete the course can qualify to participate in the competition, and are encouraged to showcase their creative results through the competition and exhibition, accumulating practical experience and creative energy to further expand their personal artistic development horizons.
The target audience for this course includes students from art-related departments, ceramic workers, craft creators, and young people interested in pursuing ceramic creation. Through course training, result exhibitions, and competition participation, the program aims to continuously deepen the heritage of Miaoli ceramic culture, combine it with local revitalization and cultural industry development energy, and create a ceramic exchange platform with both cultural depth and innovative value.
