[Arts Lecture] Taiwan Ballad Awards – From Peach Blossom Crossing to Anping Nostalgia

Date: 2026-07-25 Organizer: 林伯杰
As Taiwanese people, we should know Taiwanese songs. But do you understand the origins and development of the Taiwanese ballads left to us by the river of time?

Music expert Lin Po-chieh (林伯杰) will systematically and contextually introduce Taiwanese-language ballads.

Which of the familiar Taiwanese folk songs originate from Southern Fujian? Which are adaptations of Pingpu indigenous songs? How did popular songs from the Japanese colonial period become classic ballads?

Let us journey from the Qing Dynasty, through the Japanese colonial period, to the early post-war era, listening to and singing our Taiwanese songs together.
