Kendo Culture Promotion - Iaido Course

Over the years, the Cultural Affairs Bureau, in collaboration with the Kaohsiung City Kendo Culture Promotion Association (高雄市劍道文化促進會), has successfully attracted kendo enthusiasts to exchange and spar techniques here by restoring and recreating the Budokan's (武德殿) original splendor.
The established iaido forms are divided into two main categories: seated and standing. These are the modern, unified standard forms across all schools (All Japan Kendo Federation - 12 Seitei Iaido forms). Kendo and iaido are two sides of the same coin; many techniques and etiquette are closely connected. The established iaido consists of twelve fixed forms developed by the All Japan Kendo Federation for practitioners to refine, suitable for beginners or those who already practice kendo as an introductory paradigm before learning other numerous schools. 'Iai' (居合) implies the self and the opponent. The postures mainly consist of seiza (正座) and tachiai (立居合) techniques. Its characteristic is the sword techniques derived from battōjutsu (拔刀術) and cutting techniques, combined with many rehearsals of internal mental imagery, aiming to hone both technique and character.
