Walking with the Mountains: Taiwan World Heritage Potential Site Old Mountain Line Railway Heritage Exhibition (Permanent Exhibition)

Date: 2026-05-30 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 苗栗縣政府文化觀光局
This exhibition reinterprets the historical significance and cultural value of the Old Mountain Line Railway in Taiwan's transportation development history, railway engineering technology, and local settlement development from the perspective of cultural heritage preservation and cultural landscapes. The exhibition content is divided into four major themes: "Connecting to World Heritage," "Century Love Letters," "Railway Scenery," and "Crossing Mountains." Through historical photos, literary works, audio-visual records, situational displays, and spatial installations, it aims to lead visitors to re-read the historical depth and cultural value of the Old Mountain Line from different angles such as railway imagery, human memories, engineering technology, and cultural landscapes.
The exhibition venue is set in the Sheng-hsing Station (勝興車站) Station Master's Residence, part of the Sheng-hsing Station historic site group. The building was constructed in the 16th year of Showa (1941), originally serving as the official residence for the station master and deputy station master. After the war, during renovation, the two units were combined into one, and restoration was completed in 2010. Now, through the reuse of this historical space, visitors can once again experience the historical atmosphere and memories of the Old Mountain Line Railway culture in this century-old mountain town setting.
