Taichung 480 Municipal Store [Reading Promotion Series Event] 'Places Within Reach' Book Club

'Places Within Reach' is a work of urban writing completed by director Li Ting (李鼎) after years of walking into the alleys, markets, and night markets of Taipei's Wanhua District. This book club invites author Li Ting to personally guide the reading, starting from his six years of observation and immersion in Wanhua, sharing how he used the dual perspectives of a visual artist and a writer to record market artisans, local figures, neighborhood memories, and everyday life, and to re-understand the formation and character of a city through true stories.

This event will focus on text reading and author sharing, guiding readers from 'Places Within Reach' into the fabric of Wanhua's streets, contemplating how literature and non-fiction writing can preserve local memories, depict portraits of people, and turn overlooked daily experiences into important gateways to understanding a city. Through the book club format, the audience is invited to discuss questions from the book about distance, boundaries, relationships, and belonging, and to re-see those places that seem familiar but have never truly been reached.
