NIИ is the abbreviation for Nine Inch Nails, directly translated into Chinese as 'Nine-Inch Nails.' It is one of the most representative music groups of the American 1990s and the Millennium generation. It was a pivotal era when independent music production was just beginning to sprout, and synthesizers and samplers greatly altered the structure of music creation. At the same time, formidable four-piece rock bands still steadfastly upheld the undying spirit of rock played with sweat and life, with genres like Grunge, Heavy Metal, and Jam Band flourishing wildly, vividly resembling the plot of the movie 'The Matrix': a tug-of-war between machinery and humanity. And just as the two sides were deadlocked, a savior appeared. Multi-instrumentalist Trent Reznor emerged from Cleveland, Ohio, under the name NIИ. Leveraging the skills accumulated from his work in recording studios and his unique insights into sonic aesthetics, he tamed a pack of wild beasts, using synthesizers and drum machines as his tools to layer uniquely textured digital distortion and industrial high frequencies, capable of reflecting the distinct technological coldness of the 1990s. Simultaneously, his music retained the powerful force and anger of rock, with song themes often revolving around the venting of twisted emotions accumulated in contemporary life, and lyrics frequently challenging the edges of taboo. SYИCA. was founded in 2023, consisting of modular synthesist Nick Tsai, multi-instrumentalists Liu Chia-en (劉佳恩) and Li Yi-ning (李苡寧), and drummer Pin. From its inception, it has regarded NIИ and Trent Reznor's soundtrack works as major influences. This concert will feature SYИCA. taking on the challenge of rearranging and paying tribute to Nine Inch Nails' classic works, with the specially invited singer Tom Ricci, known for his unique vocal tone, serving as the lead vocalist.
