Now, Beethoven I: The Dawn of Light
A star that has been running for two hundred years—BTHVN.
He stretches the gravity that changes the world, sending musical signals across light-years to Earth. After two centuries, that light has never gone out; instead, it is continuously received and reinterpreted in different eras and different lives.
To welcome the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death in 2027, the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra (高雄市交響樂團) launches a new concert series, "Now, Beethoven (當是貝多芬)," with the concept of the "BTHVN star," reinterpreting this creator who changed music history.
The series will connect important works from Beethoven's different creative periods—from the youthful early symphonies, the heroic chapters that shook the era, to the late spiritual explorations beyond form and language—guiding the audience along a spectrum of musical light toward his vast and profound musical universe.
The first chapter, "The Dawn of Light (光啟之時)," centers on Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 and Symphony No. 7, showcasing his creative brilliance from youthful exuberance to life's burning passion. It also features Schumann's Concert Piece for Four Horns and Orchestra, reflecting the heroic spirit and poetic imagination of German-Austrian Romanticism.
"Now, Beethoven—The Dawn of Light" is not a tribute to classics but a dialogue with the present. We hope to hear again, within these works, courage, freedom, and the power of people who, amid the torrent of the times, still choose to believe in hope and keep moving forward.
Because Beethoven never stayed in history.
