Moonlight, Tango, and Transfigured Night: Counterpoint Ensemble's Most Dramatic Sensory Feast of the Year

Date: 2026-06-21 Organizer: 對位室內樂團
This June, the Counterpoint Ensemble will present a program themed around the classic "Transfigured Night," which shocked the 19th-century music world. With heartfelt sonic cries and a plot full of tension like a "prime-time drama," they will create a century-spanning tale of love's refinement and human reasoning, leading the audience from classic to contemporary sounds to glimpse the boundaries of humanity, strike directly at the depths of sin, and feel the diverse faces of love and courage across generations...

This program selects three composers with distinct styles, including Schoenberg's classic work "Transfigured Night," and Taiwanese composers Lin Chia-ying and Lin Ying-ting. Centered on the theme of "The Sublimation and Transformation of Emotion," it elucidates different layers of inner feelings that resonate with each other.

Additionally, this performance specially invites the heavyweight performance of bandoneon player Wu Yung-lung, "the first Asian to win the champion of the German Klingenthal Accordion Competition," to add more emotional space and infinite imagination of love to this night.

🌙 Program

Lin Chia-ying: Micro-opera "Under the Moonlight," for soprano, baritone, violin, cello, and piano

Lin Ying-ting: "Island Tango" for bandoneon, soprano, clarinet, violin, cello, double bass, and piano

Schoenberg: "Transfigured Night" for string sextet, Op. 4

The Counterpoint Ensemble is dedicated to promoting refined chamber music and is currently a subsidized team under the National Culture and Arts Foundation's Taiwan Top "Performing Arts Team Tiered Grant Program." They are deeply cultivating the musical environment of Southern Taiwan, further promoting music education, and collaborating by inviting outstanding foreign musicians to Taiwan.
