DF Modern Music Ensemble – [Curated Series] Penghu Silk and Bamboo 2026: Hu Passion

Award-winning conductor Chang Yu-an (張宇安), who studied in Germany, joins hands with the DF Modern Music Ensemble
To compose the sound of the islands, continuing the memory of silk and bamboo in the sea breeze
Taking inspiration from landscape and history, the DF Modern Music Ensemble will bring several "Penghu-exclusive" pieces. Huang Hsin-tsai's (黃新財) "Island Waves, Sky Azure" and Jen Chung's (任重) "Hu-ching Sunken City" layer by layer depict the depth and texture of the island scenery; the incorporation of pao-ko (praise songs) and folk songs allows the sound to return to the original appearance of the human voice and the land, echoing contemporary creations. Finally, Chu Yun-sung's (朱雲嵩) "Pescadores – Unending Waves" uses a leaping rhythm and grand structure to outline a bright vision for the islands.
Simultaneously, composer Jen Chung's (任重) newly created erhu concerto "Sea Beacon Flowing Fire" will have its world premiere, with Penghu youth erhu performer Chiang Ping-chun (蔣秉鈞) taking the solo spotlight – between the tension of delicacy and explosiveness, depicting the dazzling and splendid fireworks scene of his hometown.
