Exhibitions Now On
Chinese Oracle Bone Script Society 2026 Members' Joint Exhibition
The history of Chinese calligraphy is long and profound, and the art of calligraphy is the essence of Chinese culture!
Oracle bone script is text carved with a knife on turtle shells and animal bones, a cultural product of the Shang Dynasty, and the earliest, most systematic form of writing. The emergence of oracle bone script has given us a clearer understanding of the origins of Chinese characters.
Because oracle bone script is "knife-carved writing," its unique artistic characteristic in calligraphy is the "taste of the knife and brush"; based on the character forms, employing carving methods and integrating brush techniques, it displays its unique ancient flavor and artistic atmosphere of classical charm. Its form lies between totems and writing, fully showcasing the characteristic of ancient Chinese characters of "expressing meaning through form."
The Chinese Oracle Bone Script Society upholds its mission of inheritance, diligently cultivates the art, and encourages members to learn from each other and actively participate in exhibitions.
This members' joint exhibition will be held from May 16 to June 14, 2026 (Year 115) at the Taichung City Tun District Arts Center, displaying nearly a hundred works. The members' works focus primarily on oracle bone script calligraphy, supplemented by painting and calligraphy, fully showcasing each individual's artistic charm. Each piece is distinctive, rich, and diverse, promising a wonderful display!
We leave the rest for our esteemed seniors and old and new friends to visit the site for guidance. We hope that while appreciating ancient Chinese characters, you can comprehend the beauty of oracle bone script writing and help successfully promote oracle bone script calligraphy, continuing the roots of traditional culture.
