Synopsis:
10-year-old Zane and his mother Ela are invited to participate in the Indonesian-language program of the Central Broadcasting System (中央廣播電台). For his first radio interview, Zane appears both nervous and excited. Accustomed to speaking Mandarin, he now has to answer the host's questions in his halting Indonesian. This experience not only connects and inspires Zane's ties to his own Indonesian heritage but also opens up his journey of self-discovery.
Zane grew up in Taiwan and was raised in a bicultural environment. He always considered himself a Taiwanese, but as he grew older, he began to question his identity. His mother Ela, who works for a non-governmental organization (NGO), frequently assists migrants from Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other places, helping them settle in Taiwan. His father Ricky, who teaches at a university, balances his busy teaching and academic research while using his own experience to guide Zane through a multicultural upbringing. Both parents want him to understand that it is not only a matter of identity but also a choice in life...
